What are the steps to implement a microservices architecture using Node.js and containerization with Docker for better scalability and maintainability?

I'm planning to transition my Node.js application to a microservices architecture and utilize Docker for containerization. I want to understand the key steps involved in this process to achieve better scalability and maintainability.

Implementing a microservices architecture with Node.js and Docker is relatively simple. Begin by breaking down your application into smaller, independent services. Each service should have a specific responsibility and communicate with others via APIs. Then, containerize each one of these services using Docker, creating Dockerfiles to define the environment and dependencies.

You can use Docker Compose for orchestrating multiple containers during development. For production, on the other hand, consider a container orchestration platform like Kubernetes for managing and scaling containers. Last but not least, implement continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for automated testing and deployment. This approach enhances scalability, simplifies updates, and improves fault isolation.
