Mend Epitomizes RSA 2022 Theme, “Transform”

At Mend, we’re delighted to be back face-to-face to share our exciting news with everyone at RSA 2022, after last year’s virtual event. Mend is bringing the conference theme to life with its own transformation. Let’s see how.

Why “Transform”?

It’s apt that the theme of RSA 2022 is “Transform.” The likes of the Log4j, Spring4Shell, and PwnKit vulnerabilities, along with news such as the recent unauthorized package takeover in RubyGems, make it abundantly clear that we must evolve to combat ever-more sophisticated threats. RSA acknowledges that:

“As a community, we [the cybersecurity industry] have transformed. We’ve moved from the backroom to the boardroom—from behind-the-scenes professionals focused on strengthening walls to business enablers entrusted to make game-changing decisions. The spotlight is on us. And as the world becomes more digitized, it looks to us first for protection and response.”

This industry transformation is necessary to meet the challenges of an ever-changing threat landscape.

“RSA is the essential forum for everyone focused on cybersecurity,” said Rami Sass, CEO of Mend. “At Mend, we lead the way in delivering next-generation application security solutions that span open source and custom code. We’re excited to highlight how we can help transform our customers, how we’ve transformed our own organization, and how we can take a leading role in transforming the cybersecurity industry.”

Taking cybersecurity transformation to heart

We’ve taken transformation to heart and at RSA 2022, we’ll highlight how we’re pushing the boundaries of threat detection and vulnerability remediation with new capabilities, including:

  • The industry’s first-ever solution for remediation of custom source code security issues, which follows our recent expansion into custom code security, with our static application security testing (SAST) solution. Our automated remediation for SAST is combined with our existing ability to automatically remediate software composition analysis (SCA) to create the Mend Application Security Platform. This is the first platform in the world to automatically find and fix application security holes involving both open source and custom code.
  • The integration of Mend’s Supply Chain Defender, with its existing Jfrog Artifactory plugin. This allows enterprise customers using Jfrog Artifactory as a private repository manager to prevent malicious open source software from entering their code base.
  • Our re-branding from WhiteSource to Mend, to express the company’s evolution and to better reflect our commitment to resolving the security burden that pains developers and security teams alike.

The biggest transformation at RSA 2022: WhiteSource becomes Mend

In the spirit of transformation, we’ve saved our biggest news for RSA 2022. In addition to showcasing the new Mend Application Security Platform and seeing our Supply Chain Defender integrated with our Jfrog Artifactory plugin, conference attendees will see our new brand — our transformation from WhiteSource to Mend.

Arabella Hallawell, Mend’s chief marketing officer, explains. “ Application threats and vulnerabilities pose increasing risks for organizations. We’re committed to providing solutions that help close these risks more effectively while minimizing the impact on the teams using them.

Most importantly, we go further than just detecting and identifying vulnerabilities, we automatically remediate — mend — them, allowing teams to focus on where they can have the most impact. The Mend brand clearly articulates this mission and our values for customers, the community, and our employees.”

Our new brand is an expression of this mission, and the expansion of our capabilities. Drop by our booth #1749 in Moscone South to see our transformation, and meet our experts, who’ll demonstrate how Mend continues to transform the security experience.

Join us for our launch event at the W Hotel, San Francisco, on Tuesday, June 7 at 6:30 pm. Everyone is welcome. No ticket or formal invitation is required. But you’ll have a chance of winning a pair of Warby Parker sunglasses at the event if you visit our booth beforehand and ask for a ticket. The first 50 people to do so will be the lucky winners, and for every pair, we purchase to distribute, Warby Parker gives another to someone in need.

We’ll also be giving away a special branded “Morning Mender” kit to attendees at our event. Inside the kit, there’ll be instructions on how to enter a social selfie prize draw, to win a $200 gift card.
